Special Events

Don’t miss out on our special events! Every year we host several events at the U.S. Botanic Garden to celebrate our members and thank them for their commitment to supporting environmental education.

In addition, Friends receive discounts on many of the special workshops hosted throughout the year at the U.S. Botanic Garden! For more information about the everyday programming at the Garden, take a look at some of our sponsored programs or visit the Garden’s website.

Upcoming Event:

Mistletoe Mingle

Sip festive botanical cocktails with the Friends of the U.S. Botanic Garden as you enjoy exclusive after-hours access to Season’s Greenings: Dino-Mite! Wander the Conservatory adorned with poinsettias, holiday decor, and beloved D.C. landmarks crafted from plant materials. Outdoors, delight in the G-gauge model trains chugging through displays of dinosaurs made from plant parts, including Tyrannosaurus rex, Triceratops, Velociraptor, and more, as well as living plants whose ancestors lived alongside them!

Throughout the evening, enjoy hands-on seasonal activities. Mix and match aromatic spices and dried fruits to craft your own custom mulling spice blend, perfect for warming up the winter nights at home. You’ll also get a chance to gain some last-minute inspiration for incorporating natural materials to brighten your own holiday decor at home.

Your ticket includes one complimentary seasonal cocktail or mocktail. Additional snacks and beverages will be available for purchase.

Guests are invited (but not required!) to lean into the merriment with cozy sweaters and plant-inspired patterns. The trains and dinosaur display outdoors are worth bundling up for!
Attendees have the opportunity to join the Friends of the U.S. Botanic Garden at a discounted rate. All proceeds from this event support the Friends of the U.S. Botanic Garden, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that inspires active environmental stewardship by hosting educational programs with the U.S. Botanic Garden.
